tpg is the big winner of the UITP 2021 Award
This Sunday, February 6, was a victory for Geneva public transport. At a ceremony held in Dubai, the International Union of Public Transport (UITP) awarded our company for the adaptation of our network for the arrival of the Léman Express at the end of 2019.
The UITP Award is one of the most prestigious and coveted awards in the public transport world. The aim is to honor ambitious and innovative mobility projects that have been carried out in cities and regions around the world over the past two years. tpg was competing with a project entitled Intermodal integration of tpg feeder buses to the Léman Express suburban trains. An independent jury composed of nine researchers, experts and professionals elected tpg the winner of the "Public and Urban Transport Strategy" category, judging that the adaptation of the tpg network to the arrival of the Léman Express in 2019 had contributed, in a significant way, to the improvement of the access and attractiveness of transport on a network for a significant number of clients. Other finalists included London Public Transport (United Kingdom); Dubai Transit Authority (United Arab Emirates); the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications of Chile; and the French company Padam Mobility.
As a reminder, tpg had proceeded to a major reorganization of their network around the stations of the Léman Express in December 2019:
- introduction of Line 17, a new cross-border tramway line linking Lancy-Pont-Rouge and Annemasse-Parc-Montessuit;
- establishment of new routes and connection schedules for about thirty lines;
- new signaling around the stations of the Léman Express;
- development of real time information;
- opening of a tpg agency at the Lancy-Pont-Rouge station;
- new mobile application tpgPreview;
- redesign of the tpg website;
- customer welcome program and change management program for tpg employees.
tpg is honored by this recognition, which salutes the efforts of our employees as well as our many partners, including the State of Geneva, who have invested in this project aimed at offering our customers an optimal service that meets the evolution of mobility in the Greater Geneva area.
More good news
The International Union of Public Transport (UITP) summit also had other good news for Geneva public transport. Indeed, tpg also arrived among the 3 finalists in the "Marketing Campaign" category with the communication campaign "Smileys en route" which was carried out to accompany the arrival of the Léman Express. A campaign that has already won several awards, including the Challenge de la journée du transport public in Paris in 2019 and the Best of Advertising in Lausanne in 2020.
