On June 24, 2021 at 11:50 a.m., the last run began at the tpg depot in La Jonction. With the help of several enthusiastic employees, one of the last NAW 2 trolleybuses headed out to Geneva Airport, crossing the streets of Geneva for one last time. Put into service in 1992 by tpg, the fleet, made of 13 vehicles at first, has to date traveled 14,295,260 kilometers throughout Geneva.

For the record

This is a vehicle with a special history. NAW was the Swiss subsidiary of Daimler-Benz dedicated more specifically to producing specific vehicles. The company was formed by the merger of Adolph Saurer SA and Franz Bronzincevic & Cie (FBW). The electronics, manufactured by Siemens and assembled by the Renens subsidiary, are also used in Berlin tramways. The frame consists of parts manufactured for Mercedes in the former IFA Zwickau metalworks, which produced the Trabants in East Germany, and the bodywork was produced by Hess, which also contributed its know-how to the production of the new Tosa electric buses.

Farewell NAW 2

After nearly 30 years at your service, the NAW 2 fleet will be replaced with new VanHool ExquiCity trolley buses at the end of June 2021.

We would just like to say THANK YOU to our old vehicles for transporting us for the past three decades!
