What's new on the network as of 15 December 2024
tpg is developing its offer to enable you, in addition to your regular commute to work, to travel to your leisure activities by public transport. Therefore, their service is designed to meet your travel needs even outside peak hours.
Early morning until late evening
All lines, in general, will see their first departure at 5 a.m.instead of 6 a.m. Connections between public transport and the Léman Express are provided from 5 a.m.
Night adaptations
You were able to discover the new tpg night network in December 2023, a selection of daytime lines covering the entire Geneva area which allows you to return home with last departures from the city center around 3 a.m.
15 December will see some adaptations for certain lines of our network:
- Line 22 is extended at night between Palettes and Carouge-Rondeau and will increase to a frequency of 30 minutes instead of 45 minutes.
- The lines 46 and 48 circulate at night according to their diurnal routes. So Bardonnex remains the terminus of line 46 and Lully as well as Perly are served by line 48 in correspondence with the tram.
- Lines 71 , 72 and 74 operate at night to replace the tpg flex night shift which will be eliminated. Connections with the Léman Express are provided at the Satigny and La Plaine stations.
Beach line
A new line 29 , called the beach line, will be put into service, seasonally, between Collonge-Bellerive, Bois-Caran and Creux-de-Genthod, station via Vésenaz, Genève Plage, Place des Eaux-Vives, Rive, Metropole, Bains des Pâquis, Jardin Botanique and Plage du Vengeron.
In the summer, line 29 will be operational from Friday evening from 8:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. until Sunday end of service. The start of Saturday and Sunday service is set for 9 a.m. It strengthens urban lines and will in particular relieve lines 2 , 6 , E and G on sunny days.
This summer offer will serve the U lacustre during 22 weekends, from Friday 2 May to Sunday 28 September 2025.
Line 29 will be the subject of an inauguration and special communication when it is put into service in spring 2025.
Two lines change number
To meet federal requirements and for better local consistency, tpg is continuing to renumber certain lines on its network. On 15 December two lines will change numbers.
- The K will become the 40
- The J will become the 42
tpg's electric fleet is expanding
During 2025, the first articulated and biarticulated e-buses will be put into operation on line 5 . This line was chosen as a pilot because of its many qualities.
First of all, it is a busy urban line that connects the city center to the airport. Then, in anticipation of the continued electrification of the urban network, the transition is relatively easy to implement. Finally, with a view to pooling infrastructure, it allows the creation of electric charging facilities which will be shared with other lines terminating at the airport and at Thônex and Vallard.
