Synopsis
Edmée
Absolute success of the POCHE in the 1950s, Edmée returns to the POCHE in the 2020s! In this Boulevard, Edmée married Léon only in the hope of inheriting the money from her aunt Léontine. Antoinette Rychner rewrites this peasant farce by questioning the right of those* who believe themselves to be at the top to mock those who are at the bottom. Or who live in the country...
Haunted by the desire to be rich, Edmée is ready to kill anyone who comes between her and Léon's aunt's money. But in the theatre, the dead never die, poison has no effect, weapons are blank and behind every door is an intruder. Edmée was one of the greatest successes of the early days of POCHE; performed more than a hundred times in the Old Town, it even went to London, while, in its Parisian version, Claude Gensac made the whole of Paris laugh at the famous Théâtre de La Huchette. Entrusted to the Neuchâtel author Antoinette Rychner, this third Boulevard play of our anniversary season will take on a new meaning in this hilarious and politically incorrect retelling.
The explosive duo Florence Minder & Julien Jaillot have already blown away many a shirt button with Le Brasier and Fräulein Agnès at POCHE. They return today to make Antoinette Rychner's Edmée the final blow to bourgeois certainties in today's Boulevard theater.
