A little history

The estate was established in 1565 by the Lord of Bellerive: Aimé Plonjon. Several owners succeeded one another and developed the park over the centuries. The mansion was built in 1750. The estate was bought in 1865 by the future builder of the Gotthard tunnel: the engineer Louis Favre.

The municipality of Eaux-Vives bought the park in 1913. In 1928, the upper part of the park became home to the Tennis Club of Genève Eaux-Vives. The mansion, which has been transformed several times, has been a restaurant since the end of the 19th century. Nowadays, it houses the hotel-restaurant of the Parc des Eaux-Vives and receives illustrious guests.

The name "Eaux-Vives" comes from the numerous springs and streams in the area that supplied the city with drinking water.
