A bit of history
Inaugurated in 1910, the Museum of Art and History is the culmination of several centuries of an active policy combining the determination of the people of Geneva and that of the public authorities in favor of arts and culture.
In 1927, to compensate for the lack of space that was already felt at the MAH, the City of Geneva attached the Ariana Museum to it.
In 2010, the City of Geneva decided to make the Ariana Museum, a Swiss museum of ceramics and glass, independent, thus becoming the city's fifth museum institution.
