A little history
The first natural history museum in Geneva, then called the Academic Museum, was officially inaugurated on March 9, 1820. As the collections continued to grow, managers needed to find a location to accommodate this development.
On October 10, 1872, a new museum, with a surface area of 5,000 m2, was inaugurated in one of the wings of the University at Bastions.
In 1966, a new building for the Museum, designed by the architect Raymond Tschudin, was opened on its current site in Malagnou.

What are the Museum of Natural History’s opening hours?
The Museum is open every day, EXCEPT FOR MONDAYS, Christmas Day (December 25), and New Year's Day (January 1) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
On December 24 and 31, the Museum closes at 4:00 p.m. -
