The Théâtre Pitoëff
The Théâtre Pitoëff is part of a group of various premises constituting the Plainpalais Communal House built by Joseph Marshall between 1907 and 1909.
The Théâtre Pitoëff is open to professional companies active in Geneva for creative residencies. It also hosts festivals subsidized by the municipality and can be rented for the presentation of shows according to the availability of the annual calendar.
The aim is to promote the diversity of local creation.

A bit of history
In 1949, it took the name of Théâtre Pitoëff, in memory of its illustrious residents who occupied it from 1917 to 1922. Since its inauguration, the theater was occupied by the troupe of Ernest Fournier, the future director of the Comédie.
Various works of greater or lesser importance took place in 1926 and 1968 with in particular the construction of the steps in the parterre and the gallery, the covering of the walls with red velvet and the floor with carpet as well as the enlargement of the stage frame.
The management of the Théâtre Pitoëff is entrusted to the Cultural Service of the City (SEC).
