A little history
The concert hall was founded in 1894 thanks to a Consul of England, Daniel Fitzgerald Packenham Barton, a music enthusiast, based in Geneva.
He therefore had the Geneva architect John Camoletti build a concert hall which he dedicated to his sovereign, Queen Victoria.
In 1904, Barton gave the building to the City of Geneva. 80 years later the concert hall fell prey to flames which partially destroyed the interior decor. The City decided to restore the building. The decor by the initial painter Ernest Biéler was replaced by a contemporary work by Dominique Appia.
