A little history
The history of Genève-Plage remains inseparable from the development of the harbor and the Eaux-Vives quay at the beginning of the 20th century.
The "Bains de soleil et du lac" (sun and lake baths), founded in 1916 on the Eaux-Vives beach, were the origin of Genève-Plage, created in 1932, a little further towards Cologny at the place called "Port-Noir".
The passion of the Genevans for public baths goes back to the Middle Ages. Genève Plage has been promoting public baths for over a century.
