Dernière modification le 22.10.2024

tpg, SIG, and theThe Department of Health and Mobility inaugurated on Monday, June 28, 2021 the new solar power plant of En Chardon maintenance center and depot. Nearly 1 GWh of electricity will be produced per year thanks to roughly 5,000 m2 of solar panels. The photovoltaic solar energy produced is used in its entirety by tpg to operate the En Chardon site.

When it is commissioned in April 2021, the installation will produce nearly 1 GWh per year of photovoltaic solar energy, equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 300 Geneva households. It is composed of 3,000 solar panels installed on carports covering the parking area (80%) and sheds on the roof (sawtooth roof for 20%).

The photovoltaic solar energy it produces is used in its entirety by tpg to operate the En Chardon site. A 15,000 m2 green roof accompanies the solar installation.

Distribution of roles has been clearly defined between SIG and tpg. SIG financed the construction of the plant and is now in charge of its operation. At the same time, tpg has committed to consume all the energy produced for 25 years. This achievement brings the number of solar photovoltaic power plants operated by SIG in the canton to 68.

For tpg, the new installation inaugurated at En Chardon (4,933 m2 of solar panels) joins the solar power plants of Bachet-de-Pesay (5,496 m2) and of La Jonction (2,300 m2). As a result, the cumulative production of the three sites allows tpg to be among the major producers of photovoltaic solar energy in the canton, with more than 1.8 GWh produced each year, equivalent to consumption levels of more than 500 households in Geneva. This is on top of the sustainable transport tpg offers every day in the Geneva region.
