What's new on the network as of December 12, 2021
Geneva public transport is improving the network's offer to make your trips in Greater Geneva even easier and adapt as closely as possible to travelers’ real needs. Line extensions, route adaptations as well as the generalization of stops on demand on the tram network or the launch of the tpgFlex on-demand service pilot project are among the main innovations that tpg customers are discovering as of December 12, 2021.
All the news in detail
Extension of lines
Line 2
The line is extended to Cressy from Onex-Marché, replacing Line 21. The frequency of Line 2 makes it possible to increase the supply between Onex and Cressy. In addition, it also allows for a direct connection with the city center and greater frequency.
Line 7
Line 7 has its route extended and terminates at Bout-du-Monde, offering a direct connection to the city center and Geneva-Champel station from the Fontenette district and the Bout-du-Monde sports center, where there is also a P+R. This update concerns all the routes on the line.
Why?
This new offer allows for a diversification of travel between the Bout-du-Monde and the Fontenette district. In fact, Line 7 now offers the possibility of crossing Downtown (Rive — Bel-Air) from these sectors.
A plus for the environment
The new routes of Lines 2 and 7 will be made using trolleybuses equipped with the latest generation of batteries allowing greater autonomy. tpg as a result increases the number of trips with non-polluting vehicles.
Line 1 and 9
Lines 1 and 9 will serve the entire Belle-Terre district (Communaux d'Ambilly). Line 9 is extended to Belle-Terre-Place-de-l'Araire, offering as a result, in combination with Line 1, optimal service for new inhabitants.
In addition, all the routes on Line 1 serve Hôpital Trois-Chêne, alternating between the Belle-Terre district and the Belle-Idée site.
Line 8
Due to the construction of the road and tunnel of the Nations, the route of Line 8 is modified from Monday to Friday from Nations towards the WHO via the Intercontinental and Crêts-de-Morillon stops.
Line 11
The route of the line is extended to the station of Eaux-Vives and its timetables are reinforced during peak hours. It thus becomes a real belt line around the City of Geneva, offering the possibility of avoiding the center and benefiting from multiple possibilities of connections on the network. It replaces Line 21 on the section Bout-du-Monde and Genève-Eaux-Vives-Gare.
Line 21
The route of the line is shortened, in favor of more frequent lines. Its new terminals are: Onex-Cité and Carouge-Rondeau. It maintains service to the Lancy-Pont-Rouge train station.
Line 28
Line 28 (Les Esserts — Genève-Aéroport-Terminal) now serves new homes in the Etang district, with a rate of 10 minutes during rush hour and 15 minutes during off-peak hours.
A new stop is created: Etang-Place.
Line 59
The route of the line is modified in Grand-Saconnex and Chambésy to improve the coverage of the district and serve Chambésy-Pierrière.
Line 62
The line is extended from Lancy-Bachet-Gare to the industrial zone of Plan-les-Ouates (ZIPLO), passing through the village of Plan-les-Ouates. This development will allow people active in the ZIPLO to connect Lancy-Bachet station in a direct and rapid way, while waiting for the tram to arrive. This connection, which connects with the Léman Express trains, runs at a rate of 15 minutes during peak hours and 30 minutes during off-peak hours from Monday to Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This strengthening of the offer makes it possible to increase the attractiveness for Saturday commuters and to meet mobility needs related to leisure.
Cross-border lines
Lines T71, T72 and T74, connecting Geneva to Thonon and Annecy to Sallanches, change numbering and become 271, 272 and 274 respectively.
From the end of 2021, these lines are operated by the company Alpbus (a subsidiary of the RATP Dev group). Real-time information from the tpg network includes these lines during 2022 in order to facilitate the search for routes and connections for travelers arriving in Geneva from neighboring France.
Tram stops on request
The entire tpg network now operates according to the principle of stops on request. The measure, which mainly concerned buses and trolleybuses for the past 4 years, is generalized on the tram network. We invite travelers to be attentive during their travels and to signal to the driving staff, with a simple wave of the hand from the dock, the desire to board and by pressing the open button of the doors inside the vehicles before arriving at the stop. For your safety, we invite you to be vigilant, especially during off-peak hours on less busy sections of lines, in order to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Why?
The principle of stops on demand aims to streamline the routes, improve the progression of vehicles and achieve savings on fleet maintenance.
New on-demand bus service: tpgFlex
As of December 13, the municipalities of Avully, Avusy, Cartigny, Laconnex, Soral and Viry (France) can benefit from an on-demand service pilot project called tpgFlex. Ordering a ride is made via the tpgFlex application or the dedicated web page (soon available). There are no more timetables or landlines. All you have to do is specify the start and finish stops as well as the time of the route, which can be ordered up to a week in advance. In total, 31 stops are served, including La Plaine-Gare (connection with the train). Buses optimize their routes according to the reservations made and the trips to be made, without referring to pre-established routes.
tpgFlex on-demand service is available Monday to Friday, during off-peak hours, during the day and in the evening. During peak hours, Lines 76 and 77 provide service in the region, according to their usual routes and schedules.
Why?
tpgFlex allows for a more flexible, more optimized transport and is part of the innovation projects of our corporate strategy Cap 2030.
